As we get older, we experience undergoing changes on our skin. What worked best in our 20s won't do us any favors in our 30s or 40s or so on. If we wish to maintain our youthful skin-glow into our golden years, and look flawless every decade in between, we need to adapt our skin care regimen to the number of our years.
So, we’re going to walk through the years and see what’s the right skincare according to the age.
Sun protection is important no matter what age we are, but during the twenties we’ll have to focus on preventing skin damage and the aging associated with it. During this age we might see the first signs of aging so wearing sun protection every day and washing the makeup at night is crucial. Also, preventative care is important too, so, we should keep our pores clear. Though our skin might not show damage now, we’ll see it later, that’s why we should be kind to our skin.
Our skin might start to look a little less bright than it used to before. Because of the hormonal changes we might notice dark circles under the eyes, clogged pores, skin discolorations and wrinkles. That is a sign that is time for new anti-age facial moisturizer. Also exfoliating more regularly is important from now on because skin only exfoliates naturally every 35 days as opposed to every 14 in our 20s.
In our 40s the collagen and sebum production decreases and the estrogen levels are tapering so, our skin will become dryer and our expression lines between our brows and around our eyes and mouth won't disappear like they did in our 30s. Keeping our skin hydrated and using natural, anti-aging ingredients such as collagen-building moisturizers will help keep our skin looking healthy.
50s and over
Loss of tone, hollow and baggy eyes are the biggest issues in our 50s and over. As your skin loosens, your pores become larger, that’s why creams, serums and rich and deep nourishing moisturizers can do so much and make our (50-and-something) skin looking refreshed.
